"When we were the screen
printing association, it was effective to address the needs of both communities
with one set of information services. The two communities shared a common
interest in managing the same technology, and managing that technology was
SGIA's focus. Today, SGIA's informational support has expanded beyond technical
support to include market research, industry analysis and business development
strategies. As SGIA support increases, so does the challenge of serving both
communities with one set of information resources"
In his announcement, Robertson
reports to members that to better serve both communities, the association will
make the following changes in 2013.
The SGIA Journal: Six
issues of the Journal will be graphic specific - the JAN-FEB 2013 issue being
the first. Two issues be garment specific. SGIA members can choose to receive
only the graphic, only the garment, or both versions of the Journal at no
GarmentDecorators.org: In the
fourth quarter of 2013, SGIA will launch GarmentDecorators.org - a new website
specific for the SGIA garment decorating community. The two sites will be
clearly linked and SGIA members will have full access to both.
In his concluding remark to
SGIA members, Robertson said: "We are excited about this dramatic new
direction as this new approach will help SGIA leadership and staff provide the
depth and focus both communities need in today's competitive environment.
Whether your interest is graphic, garment or both, we hope you find added value
in SGIA's information resources." DC
